I Love:
I love to read and write. I love to learn, I love to listen. I love good conversations. I love being intrigued. I love the complexity of life and the many layers of humanity. I love libraries, cafes, long walks, flowers, nature, my alone time, hand written letters. I love to laugh. I love interesting people, people that make me forget about myself. Most importantly, I love God. I love because He first loved me.
In writing, I learn myself, I learn God, and I learn connection with others. In writing, I am no longer averse to risk. I welcome the frightening reality that I will discover something new about you or me. I have found beauty in discovery, in understanding and being understood. I write to show that I am human, I write to show I am not perfect. I write to show that I am trying. In my trying, I have failed. Yet, in my failing, I have learned.

Notes On Writing As Surrender
IN WRITING YOU ARE EXPOSED
IN WRITING YOU ARE HUMBLED

Since elementary school I have loved words. I have loved reading them and using them to create my own worlds. Writing has been a great escape for me since young. Countless days I have spent putting pen to paper, as if to draw myself a bridge to another place. It was only until I hit my 20’s that I realized that writing is a gift, specifically, one from the Lord. I had written pretty secularly previously, but when God gave me a new revelation of words, I knew my only response was to surrender it to Him. Out of obedience, I have been writing for God. Allowing God to use me and speak through me. Never did I ever think that what began as a blessing selfishly for me, would be a blessing to others. Out of my toughest seasons, my quietest struggles, I have poured. In writing, I am humbled. I pray these words find who they are meant for, and find them exactly where they need to be found.
My love for words was found in a place where reticence met the desire to be understood, a place where my desire to be heard, met my desire to not be perceived. I welcomed all to meet me there, not solely to hear me, but to see me as imperceptible as I was. For years I had been screaming, but my scream was muffled with the fear of intimately being known. Unveiled before eyes that unravel my wiring and call me imposter. In writing, I am exposed. I have come to learn that this is not something to run from. I have already been seen fully by El Roi, and still, He calls me His own. Still, He calls me good. Therefore, who is mere man?

UNVEIL MY JOURNEY
In life, I choose to be the wind while simultaneously being the one in which the wind blows. I do not merely want to be cognizant of my life, I want it to echo, to richochet, to pour out. Wiping the glass of my awareness in hopes of capturing it all. Who embarks on a journey and laces on the shoes of distractedness? Not I. The wirings of my mind have rendered me far too curious for my own good. I yearn to learn who not to be and who I shall become. I want to dance freely, sinlessly, pure. In writing and reading, I perfect this dance. In writing and reading, I do not dance alone.
Writing has sharpened my impulses. In the slowness of writing, I have learned empathy, I have learned attentiveness, I have learned to dig. In reading, I pause. I examine, I question, I retain. In reading, I observe the complexity of flesh, the fallen nature of man, the salvation that is offered freely, and the light that waits to be found. In reading, I look to another and not to myself. In reading, I am seldom selfish, seldom narcissistic, In reading, I care.
